The Silmarillion is an account of the Elder Days, of the First Age of Tolkien's world. The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-Earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included in the book are several shorter works. The Ainulindale is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabeth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Numenor at the end of the Second Age and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age, as narrated in The Lord of the Rings.For the first time, we are publishing a deluxe edition of this pivotal work, featuring the revised, corrected text and including, by way of an introduction, a fascinating letter written by Tolkien in 1951 in which he gives a full explanation of how he conceived the early Ages of Middle-earth. 2016年12月12日下单，价格361元，12月14日到；优点：书籍绝对正版，纸张很厚实，图片精美，12月12日有点小优惠，快递给力：缺点：精装图书居然没有任何保护（就用薄薄的塑料膜包了一下），书外硬壳居然比书本高一小点，导致我拿书一点安全感都没有，书外硬壳一角居然还有淡淡的磨损痕迹。最后，給这单打个3分，希望京东方面改进并抚慰下我受伤的心灵,支持京东！

The Silmarillion 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Leather Bound. Once again I am led to marvel at the beauty of myth. Tolkien has the advantage of not being saddled with the heavy burden of literality. Without the need to carbon date the age of the Music in the fossil record of Middle Earth we can simply ponder the truths of the story.
