《英語聽力入門2000》是在韆禧之年的鍾聲裏邁齣第一步的。當時有朋友鼓勵說，它的誕生使初版《英語聽力入門》煥發齣瞭青春的活力。而今，多少個寒暑又已過去，我們或許應該說，正在一步一步進入而立之年的教材又必須重新振奮，因為唯獨如此，它纔有可能在真正意義上走嚮成熟。這就是曆史賦予《英語聽力入門3000》的責任與光榮。
在冷靜的反思之後，編者從《聽力入門》（以下均使用簡稱）與《聽力入門2000》各自的特色和缺陷裏初步悟到瞭《聽力入門3000》的方嚮。
上個世紀八十年代初開始醞釀《聽力入門》的時候，中國大地剛剛改革開放，英語學習熱潮四處升騰。基於當時的教學實際，編者將重點牢牢地鎖定在英語有聲語言的真實性以及聽力基本功訓練等兩個方麵。之後多年的實踐證明，比較係統和紮實細緻的技能訓練對增強學生的能力與後勁是至關重要的。
到《聽力入門2000》齣版之時，全國的英語教學水平已普遍提高，社會巨變所帶來的新鮮氣象和熱門話題也層齣不窮。教材將擴展教學內容的廣度與深度置於中心位置，這在很大程度上滿足瞭師生的需要。
今天，前兩輪實踐均已取得階段性成果。但當我們站到一個更加客觀、更加全麵的角度去審視時，又深感某些遺憾與不足。願《聽力入門3000》帶給我們新的機會與進步。
