　　1.時間狀語從句
　　時間狀語從句一般迴答When?提齣的問題，並可以用下列從屬連詞來引導： when （當……時候）、after（在……之後）、as （當，一邊……一邊）、as long as（達……之久，長達）、as soon as（一……就）、before（在……之前）、by the time （that）（到……的時候）、directly（一……就）、during the time（that）（在……期間）、immediately（一……就）、the moment（that）（一……就）、now（that）（既然）、once（一旦）、since（自從）、until/till（直到）、whenever（無論何時）、while（在……期間）等，如：You can keep these records as long as you like.
　　這些唱片你願保留多久都行。
　　5.So the number of stars that we know exist is now estimated at …
　　that 引導的是定語從句，從句中的謂語動詞是exist.該定語從句修飾stars.we know 為插入語。estimate sth .at 估計某物為，如：
　　His parents estimated the cost at about$5,000.
　　他父母親估計費用在5，000美元左右。
　　課文詳注 Furthernotesonthetext
　　1．．．．and that if only the common people Of the world could meet one another at football Or cricket，they would have no inclination tO meet On the battlefield．that if only．．．or cricket作saying的賓語從句。其中的復閤從屬連詞if only(隻要)，根據實際語境和語義的需要，可用來引導真實性條件狀語從句，或如文中那樣引導非真實性條件狀語從句。could meet和would have是用來錶示與現在事實不符的虛擬語氣結構。if only的用法如下：
　　We can sureJy over come these difficulties if only we are closeJy united．
　　隻要我們緊密地團結一緻，一定能剋服這些睏難。(真實性條件狀語從句)
　　If only she had had more money，she would have bought some more new clothes.
　　她那時如果有更多的錢，她就會再買幾件新衣服瞭。(非真實性條件狀語從句)
　　if only還常單獨使用，用來錶示諸如“要是……就”、“但願……”這類含惋惜、願望等感情色彩的句子。這樣用時多用虛擬語氣形式，如：
　　If only they were still alive!
　　他們要是還活著多好啊!
　　If only you had come five minutes earlier!
　　你要是早5分鍾到就好瞭!
　　此外，不要將if only(隻要)同only if (隻有在……時)相混淆，比較：
　　We are sure you will succeed if only you try hard.
　　我們確信隻要你努力必定會成功。
　　We told him he would succeed only if he tried hard.
　　我們告訴他隻有努力他纔能成功。
　　have no inclination to do sth．不願做某事，如：
　　She has no indination to be a doctor.
　　她不願當醫生。
　　2.Even if one didnt know from concrete examples(the 1936 Olympic Games，for instance)that international sporting contests lead tO orgies Of hatred，one could deduce it from general principles．
　　Even if 即使，盡管，縱然。它與even though錶達的語義一樣，均作從屬連詞引導讓步狀語從句。even if 多在口語中使用，而even though多在比較正式的書麵語中使用。one在此用來泛指人，意即“人們”。orgies Of hatred極度仇恨。deduce．．．from從……中推斷齣，如：
　　The police deduced the exact spot where the murder took
　　place from O few abandoned items scattered around．
　　警方從幾件四處丟棄的物件準確推斷齣瞭殺人現場。
　　it在這裏指that所引導的賓語從句(即指international．．．hatred)中的內容。
　　課文詳注 Further notes on the text
　　1．Chickens slaughtered in the United States，claim officials Sn Brussels，alenot nt tO grace European tables．
　　本句為報刊中常見的一種直接引語形式，其直接引用語由除claim officials in Brussels以外的其他，兩部分構成。引語中的slaughtered．．．States為過去分詞短語，作定語，修飾
　　Chickens。claim officials in Brussels，為實現引語部分連接的“連接詞語”，用來提醒讀者該話語為引用語。這樣的連接詞語可以用“主語+動詞”這樣的詞序，也可如文中那樣用“動詞+主語”這樣的倒裝詞序。be fit to do sth．適閤做某事，如：
　　He has recovered from illness quite recently；he is,
　　therefore，not fit to take a long walk.
　　他的病剛好，所以還不適宜走長路。
　　Hes not fit to tackle such an arduous task,
　　他不適宜擔負這麼艱巨的任務。有關本句的進一步解釋見本課後課文拄釋l。本課的第2句
　　采用瞭與第1句完全相同的句式結構。
　　2．．．．it is differences in national regulations far more than
　　tariffs，that put sand in the wheels Of trade．between rich
　　countries.
　　本句是由it is／was．．．that／who(m)．．．構成的強調句式。這種分裂句式常用來對句子中的某個詞或某個短語進行強調。is／was後為被強調部分，that／who(m)之後為句子的非強調部分。在more than,此短語後，不僅可以跟句子，而且可以跟形容詞、副詞、動詞或名詞，其語義往往由於後麵跟隨的成分的不同而不同。如文中那樣，其後為名詞時，往往錶達“不隻是”、“不僅僅”之意，如：
　　A science is more than a large amount of information on
　　some subject.
　　一門科學不隻是有關某門學科的大量資料。
　　put sand in the wheels of 阻礙，阻撓。有關本句的進一步解釋見本課課文注釋2。本課的第4句也采用瞭強調句式。
　　3. An electric razor that meets the European Unions safety standards must be approved by．．．in Europe．that meetsthe．．．standards為定語從句，修飾razor。本句為由並列連詞and連接的並列句。並列連詞and兩邊的分句，像課文第1和第2、第3和第4句那樣，采用瞭相同的句式結構。這樣的文體不僅齣於語義錶達的需要，而且使兩種對比條件的相似性更為鮮明，從而有利於讀者對作者所要錶達語義的更好理解。
　　4.As it happensses,a razor that iS safe in Europe iS unlikely to electrocute Americans．As it happens這裏作插入語使用，用來對a razor．．．
　　Americans情況錶示強調。
　　5.So，ask businesses On both sides Of the Atlantic，why have two lots Oftests where one would do?
　　本句類同於文章的第1句，為直接引語的一種錶述方法。其中ask businesses on both sides Of the Atlantic為連接詞語，用來連接直接引語的兩個部分。有關本句的進一步解釋，見本課課文注釋3。
　　課文詳注 Further notes on the text
　　1．Carver Mead，a pioneer in．．．，notes there ale now workstations thatenable．．．，much the way an editor creates a newsletter on a Macintosh．
　　a pioneerin．．．Technology為Carver Mead的同位語，對其作進一步的說明。there are．．．on their desks為動詞notes後跟隨的賓語從句，動詞與賓語從句之間省略瞭連that.that enable．．．on their desks為該賓語從句中的定語從句，修飾workstations。在the way an editor．．．on a Macintosh中，the way前省略瞭介詞in，整個短語在句中作方式狀語。在非正式文體中，in the way中的介詞in通常被省略，如：
　　You’re doing it (in)the wrong way.
　　你做這件事的方法不對。
　　Do it(in)any way you like．
　　你想怎樣做就怎樣做。
　　an editor．．．on a Macintosh為定語從句，修飾the way，其前省略瞭that。在非正式情況中，that通常被用來代替the way後的in which或by which，而that可以被省略，如：
　　I don’t like the way (that)you talk to me.
　　我可不喜歡你同我談話的方式。
　　Let’go the way(that)we went yesterday.
　　讓我們走我們昨天走的那條路吧。
　　2．AS the time and costOfmaking a chip drop tO．．．，engJlineers may soon bC free tO let．．．
　　句中的As為從屬連詞，用來引導一原因狀語從句，錶示“因為”、“由於”。be free to do．．．結構中，free為句子的錶語，其後跟隨動詞不定式，錶示“可以做”，如：
　　You are free to go anywhere you wish．
　　你可以到任何你想去的地方。
　　3．Mead predkts that inventors．．．at the office—spawning a new generation of garage start-ups and giving the U.S.a jump on itS foreign rivals in getting new preducts to market fast．
　　破摺號後並列的兩個現在分詞短語spawning．．．start-ups和
　　giving．．．fast為結果狀語，作為that引導的賓語從句中
　　inventors．．．at the office所産生的結果。
　　4.‘We really thriveOn anarchy．’
　　thrive on靠……而繁榮／發展。不及物動詞thrive的本意是指生物的“繁殖”、“興旺”，常被引申來錶達“繁榮”、“發展”、“生長”之意，如：
　　Most plants thrive in warm climates．
　　大多數植物在溫暖的氣候裏生長茂盛。
　　Babies thrive on thier motherss milk.
　　嬰兒吃母乳長得快。
　　thrive on的引申義時常也用來錶達不好酌意思，如：
　　Merchants who thrive on smuggling will not end well．
　　靠走私發跡的商人是不會有好下場的。
　　5．And on Asians.
　　本句意為“靠的是亞洲人”。這裏用的是個省略句，可以將其視為前一段最後一句的繼續。引號中的We really thrive on anarchy為Mead的觀點。本省略句錶達齣本文作者不但贊成Mead的這一觀點，而且還補充進瞭自己的觀點。作者將其另起一段，錶明作者對自己觀點部分的強調。

無論是快遞服務和售後服務都挺不錯的，重要的是商品價格和質量整體來說都還不錯，促銷活動時還是比較優惠的。隻是，近兩年的活動似乎沒有前幾年的活動優惠力度大瞭。免運費門檻年年提升。什麼加重費等。還有，現在滿減券也十分有限，不是那麼好領取，經常看著整點也搶不到券，這一點比較鬱悶。所以想買某樣東西時，看著它在活動滿減，但自己卻老是搶不到券，隻能被迫放棄瞭！
