《全國英語等級考試標準教程學習指導（全新版）（第5級）》全國英語等級考試（Public English Test System，簡稱PETS）足教育部考試中心設計並負責的全國性英語水平考試。PETS是我國惟一麵嚮全體社會公民的多級彆的專業英語測試體係，人們可以根據自己的英語水平選擇參加其中任何一個級彆的考試。PETS分為筆試和口試兩個相對獨立的考查部分，對考生聽、說、讀、寫等能力進行全麵考查，對閤格肯頒發相應的英語等級證書，以滿足社會上英語能力鑒定和人纔市場的需求。高等教育自學考試專科和本科的公共英語考試己分彆承認PETS-2和PETS-3考試。PETS-5考試已經替代瞭主要用於評價公派齣國留學人員英語水平的全國外語水平考試（WSK）中的英語水平考試（EPT）。PETS-2~IPETS-4考試的標準和題型已經用於改造瞭全國普通高考和全國碩土研究生入學統一考試中的英語考試。有關省份的普通高考英語聽力考試成績采用TPETS-2聽力考試成績，高考外語類考生的口試使用TPETS-2口試。
