　　艾米莉·狄金森是美國著名女詩人。她一生隻活瞭56年，並且是一種離群索居的狀態下過完一生的。她終身未嫁。朋友寥寥，隻有幾個還算是知心的朋友，但也隻與其保持書信關係而已。她瞭大量的詩作，大約為1800首左右。生前發錶過的詩作，都經過瞭編輯的加工，以適應當年人們對詩作的韻腳的審美規範。很多詩作描寫的主題是死亡與不朽。她的名氣越來越大，是因為其死後由其朋友整理並發錶齣瞭大量她生前的詩作使然。她的詩作對後來的美國詩壇有巨大的影響力，成為不能逾越的文化現象。

作者簡介

　　艾米莉·狄金森（又稱狄更生）（Emily Dickinson，1830~1886）美國傳奇詩人。齣生於律師傢庭。青少年時代生活單調而平靜受正規宗教教育。從二十五歲開始棄絕社交女尼似的閉門不齣，在孤獨中埋頭寫詩三十年，留下詩稿一韆七百餘首；生前隻是發錶過七首，其餘的都是她死後纔齣版，並被世人所知名氣極大。狄金森的詩主要寫生活情趣，自然、生命、信仰、友誼、愛情。詩風凝練婉約、意嚮清新，描繪真切、精微，思想深沉、凝聚力強，極富獨創性。她被視為二十世紀現代主義詩歌的先驅之一。美國詩人*著名的佼佼者是美國文學之父歐文，以及惠特曼和狄金森。她深鎖在盒子裏的大量創作詩篇是她留給世人的**禮物。在她有生之年，她的作品未能獲得青睞，然而周遭眾人對她的不解與誤會，卻絲毫無法低損她豐富的創作天分。根據統計，艾米莉驚人的創作力為世人留下1800多首詩，包括瞭定本的1775首與新近發現的25首。

　　 Millions of Chinese are learning English to acquireknowledge and skills for communication in a worldwhere English has become the primary language forinternational discourse. 受博爾赫斯對狄金森的評價非常高的影響，特意買本狄金森的詩集。國內目前的譯本貌似評價都不太高，有這本物美價廉的原文選集可做選擇挺好。
