##Fascinating life journey from 1954 to early 1990s. 有时现实比故事更夸张 佩服作者的耐性敢想敢做。知识可以改变命运 但也抵不过造化弄人。
评分虽然知道插队苦，知青难，但是没想到当年能苦到这个份儿上，我爸在大兴安岭我妈在湖北十堰的经历应该和作者差不多，真是命运弄人，改变了一代人的命运。感觉作者刻苦勤奋聪明幸运，虽然命运被大环境左右，但自己却仍能生活得不错，看完感觉格外励志。
评分##大老板的书，坦白说很久没有读这样回忆录的书籍了，而Out of Gobi更多的是平白口语话的叙述，很难探究其间他对于这种历史背景的感情，但也可能，作为历史的一份子，几十年后其实大概就是这种淡然的心态了。 一个同事在amazon书评下说到有趣的一点，单总和圣上几乎是同龄人，经历过大抵类似的时代洪流，很多人都会低估这一代人的坚韧。 Shan的职业生涯回过头来看真的是非常的先苦后甜，当然没有在戈壁的困苦煎熬也没有后期来到美国后求学时候的勤勉刻苦，后面的贵人相助和诸多际遇实际也是德配其位的，真的很了不起。说起来有的时候Shan群发公司邮件依然会分享一些关于经济政治的看法，其实很有助益，可一些本地同事会有些不屑一顾，真的很浅薄
评分##终于读完。没想到是这么认真的一本回忆录，从大跃进写起，用个人经历写中国的历史进程。很多细节的描写和故事看起来匪夷所思，但给我这样以前只能从历史书上看到一些只言片语的人很多有意思的视角。单伟健无疑是努力的，在戈壁也要坚持读书听英文广播，别人劳动纷纷偷懒他还坚持，为了被推选上大学主动去和别人搞好关系，去了美国还要无比努力拿A。能在困境中保持对自己的高要求，对人生敢于选择未知和跳出舒适圈，大佬之所以为大佬，不是没有道理。
评分##飞机上看完了。单可比许多业内大佬们实在多了，不乱卖无用鸡汤，文笔淳朴，语言对于中国读者也极其友好。对于没有那个时代经历的年轻读者还是非常生动的。虽说时代造人，但有时候也是事在人为啊。作为一个刚步入而立之年却时常陷入中年懒散状态的人，惭愧万分…
评分##怎么说呢…想看怎么在金融行业做deal的人应该失望了。整本书简单来说就是书中一句话““If I learned anything in the Gobi, it is to be always skeptical of authorities of any kind, especially the self-proclaimed ones.”
评分##幸亏有下乡经历作为铺垫，流水似的枯燥记叙方式被增色不少，笔者的文笔实在一般.
评分###看书之前不知道作者是什么来头。插队干活的故事可能大部分那一代人都很类似，但之后抓住一切机会变成新中国第一代伯克利phd真的很不容易，特别是考虑到他是小学学历而且大学学的也是文科的外语，甚至觉得文章里淡化了他的自我努力。然后他在学习之外的一些为人处事也挺值得借鉴，比如当排球裁判提高存在感，或者是广结朋友最后到了关键时刻很用得上。书里语言虽然淳朴，但是能看出他一点不骄傲，总是很虚心和感恩
评分##前半部分主要是写作者上山下乡期间在内蒙古戈壁耕地，烧砖块，挖土豆，做赤脚医生等等的经历，在如此艰苦的条件下作者同时也在不停思考他们付出的劳动变成无用功的根源，还有如何改进生产力，但种种的努力都无法得到实践，可见当时政策的盲目性和破坏性之大，不仅浪费了一代人的青春（简直是流放做奴隶），也一定程度上造成了教育和文化的断层，后半部分主要是作者上大学和留学的经历比较平淡，但和前半部分一起看的话也挺神奇的，作者作为商学院的教授也是根据自己的经历写了一些关于市场经济和计划经济的思考，但这方面感觉可以写的更深入一些
