最早使用philosophia（愛智慧）和philosophos（愛智者）這兩個詞語的是畢達哥拉斯。據蓬托斯的赫拉剋利德在《論無生物》中記載，當畢達哥拉斯在同西庫翁或弗裏阿西亞的僭主勒翁交談時，第一次使用瞭philosophia（愛智慧）這個詞語，並且把自己稱作philosophos（愛智者）。畢達哥拉斯還說，在生活中，一些奴性的人生來是名利的獵手，而philosophos（愛智者）生來尋求真理。他明確地把愛智者歸到瞭自由人的行列，也把自由和真理聯係在瞭一起。

But Back to the topic, This book is rather clean and simple ,with neutral standard, very much better than Russell 's attitude toward other philosophers .Besides,i like very much on British style on introducing peoples. Very different from Chinese traditional ones.
